Welcome to my site

Welcome to my web site. It's a bit silly and self-indulgent I suppose... but I created this site as my first attempt at HTML/web design. It was easier to write about the things I enjoyed - to make it fun - as I learned how to use a web editor & make it do what I want with a page. Soon I realized I really enjoyed the idea of having a site that was part web address book and part online scrapbook. It was available to me wherever I went (well, wherever I went that had a computer and an online connection) and I didn't have to carry anything else around to be able to get at it. I've since realized that the web is a very interesting place and that just because this is some crappy, homemade site, that I do not try to advertise, there's always a chance someone could stumble over it and wander in... so I guess this is also a potential personal peep show. In the last few years, I've been kinda swept up into doing a lot of web work at work and as I'm sure you can understand, I let this site go to pot. I hadn't thought about this site in months but then my brother e-mailed me. He wanted to tell me that he had stumbled on this site when he "googled" me (don't ask - I don't get it either...) and that he thought it was time I give it a good update... So here we are. With this update going into place, I am now going to actually use the links page of this site as my homepage at work and at home. =:-) Of course I have additional bookmarks that are necessary in only one place or the other but I think this is cool - to use a "homepage" *as* my homepage! OK - so I'm dense, I've just always used the MSN page or the "SuffolkWeb" main page as my "home" and never thought about why it's called a "homepage." So then... So far, my life has been pretty uneventful. I was born... grew up on Long Island, graduated from High School, went to college (SCCC for an AA in Liberal Arts, SUNY SB for a BA in Humanities, and most recently, CUNY QC for my MLS) and got a job. I'm a Librarian... a Young Adult (teen) Specialist, soon to be a Branch Manager. At the end of 2005 I moved to California. In 2008 I took a new job with the San José Public Library. So, let's see... I currently live with my husband Adam & our doggie Dante. Basically I'm happy, healthy and just trying to have a little fun before I die. |
